Dr. King lived his life based on the principles of Democracy, Justice, Love and Hope. He believed that citizens had a responsibility to hold their government accountable. He also believed that America must live up to the promises of life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness.
Dr. King also believed that everyone deserved justice and equality. Dr. King expressed his love for humankind and his hope in the ability of people to change in his many speeches and sermons.
